NWPA WDB announces Mobile Services for Job Seekers and Employers
Posted on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 1:39 PM

Meadville, PA-The NW PA Workforce Development Board (WDB) covering the six counties of Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Venango, and Warren announced today that it is launching mobile workforce service delivery to job seekers and employers starting immediately.  The kick-off, event held at the Crawford County READ Program (640 Walnut St, Meadville), commenced at 11 a.m. with more than 50 community leaders in attendance.  Guest speakers included Julie Slomski, NW PA Governor Wolf’s Regional Office, Crawford County Commissioner John Amato, Joy Sherry, Board Chair, and Dr. Armendia Dixon, Crawford County READ Program.

The mobile hub will service clients of all types (Adult, Dislocated Workers, and Youth) through static access points, workshop locations, and partnerships with community-based organizations and employers.  “The key to our success will be the establishment of relationships,” said Janet Anderson of Partners for Performance administrative agency to the NW PA Workforce Development Board.  The concept is not new; other states are employing similar approaches to reach clients.  It can be difficult for a client to come into the PA CareerLink® for services due to limited transportation options and time.  The Mobile Concept will bring the services closer to clients by delivering in the local libraries, community-based organizations, and potentially in employer’s conference rooms.  “Our goal is to provide improved customer service, system performance, and fiscal integrity,” said Joy Sherry, NW PA WDB Chair.  Dislocated workers can find static access points and workshop locations in each county on the NW PA CareerLink® website ( or by calling 1-844-333-5248.  “Ultimately, the point is to have more people filling open positions locally and continuing to develop skills to achieve family sustaining wages,” said Commissioner John Amato.
