WDB Members


The NWPA Workforce Development Board (WDB) is comprised of members representing business, labor, education, social services, and government agencies throughout Northwest Pennsylvania. Working in cooperation with chambers of commerce, economic development organizations, planning commissions, and others, the Board focuses its development activities on key industry segments that include electronics manufacturing, food processing, construction, health care, metal fabrication, plastics, technology, lumber and hardwoods, oil and gas, transportation, and mining. The Board also administers federal and state funds for programs targeted to adults, dislocated workers, and young people through five PA CareerLink® offices in Erie, Crawford, Clarion, Oil Region (Venango), and Warren

Michael received his BA and Masters of Education from Gannon University and now serves as the President & CEO of Preferred Systems, Inc. in Erie, PA. Preferred Systems, Inc. is a provider of national Certified Continuing Educational Programs and a national provider of continuing education credits to Professional Organizations, Universities, Government Agencies and Association’s that produce educational programs for those attendees requiring continuing education credit for the maintenance of their certification or license.  Preferred Systems, Inc. currently is accredited by 44 different national licensing boards and associations in the areas of Law, Insurance, Finance, Workers’ Compensation, Real Estate, Human Resources, Safety, Behavioral Health, Pathological Gambling Counseling Treatment, Healthcare, Education, etc. Preferred Systems, Inc. provides recruitment, assessment/evaluation and employment placement services for the building trade’s arena specializing in minority recruitment in the placement within the apprenticeship training programs.  Preferred Systems, Inc. has worked on the $130 million-dollar Erie Bayfront Convention Center, Hotel, and parking ramp project, the $30-million-dollar renovation of the Erie Insurance Arena, various Erie municipal construction projects and the $43 million-dollar construction project of the Courtyard by Marriott Bayfront Hotel and parking ramp project.

Previously, Michael served as the Director of Employee Assistance Programs and Director of Medical Education at Saint Vincent Health Center, and as a Pharmaseutical Representative for Burroughs-Wellcome LLP. Michael has an extensive background in training and development. 

Outside of work, Michael especially enjoys long distance running, as he has completed 21 marathons. He also takes interests in weight training, domestic and international traveling, classic autos, and community activities.
