The Northwest PA area was awarded a PA Department of Labor & Industry Business-Education Partnership grant in January 2019.  Under the heading of NWPA Job Connect Students in the Workplace Demonstration Project, the program will offer experiential opportunities to approximately 400 students by giving them an opportunity to interact with Manufacturing and Healthcare employers and employees in their communities. Emphasis will be placed on low-income middle and high school students, and their families, that meet WIOA eligibility requirements

“The BEP program helps connect teachers, employers and students to provide young people with work-based learning experiences that places them on a path for future career success,” said PA Department of Labor & Industry Secretary Jerry Oleksiak.  NW PA Job Connect Director Janet Anderson notes “NW PA Job Connect Students in the Workplace will help to strengthen the pipeline of workers for employers throughout the six-counties of the Northwest Area:  Clarion, Crawford, Erie, Forest, Venango and Warren.”  Program implementation is projected to begin in mid- to late-February, upon execution of the Notice of Obligation.
